Air Source Heat Pumps Scotland

What is Air Source Heat Pump?

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) is an advanced piece of technology, focused on generating heat from the air using refrigerant technology. Just like a fridge freezer in reverse.

The outdoor unit pulls in air and extracts heat from it, even when its cold,  and then compresses that air to boost the temperature significantly. This is then pumped around your radiators, underfloor heating and hot water cylinder to heat your home and hot water.

Government Funding

The good news is, all homeowners are eligible for up to £7,500 so long as the house meets a small criteria. You may also be eligible for a 0% loan up to £16,500 to help fund the project should the grant not cover the full install cost.

The Funding is available via Home Energy Scotland and makes the switch more affordable to a wide range of homes.

Our experienced team will be able to guide you through the process from start to finish, making the process simple and efficient.

Heat Pumps don't work in Scotland!

It is a statement we see a lot online, often from individuals who have never installed one or had one in their home. Its a valid question and easily explained.

Air Source was originally designed and built in Austria, where the climate is very cold in the winter. Eventually being adopted in the USA, Japan and Scandinavia. Despite the concept originating from the UK, the UK was late to adopt.

Air Source in todays market is designed to operate in as low as -21 degrees outside, still delivering 21-23 degrees for your home.

So, yes it works fantastically in Scotland if designed correctly.

Choosing the right Installer?

Choosing the the right installer is so important as we are often led by cost, brand and company size!

Its no secret that no one wants to over pay for something and their is also a sense of security with a known brand and large organisation, however it all comes down to the details.

If the system is not sized properly, then it will not heat the home efficiently and end up costing more to run. Price is not the most important thing to consider, always make sure its a reputable company with the expertise to ensure you have a correctly sized system. If it seems too good to be true in this industry, it usually is.
